Global Reach with a Local Touch: How Our Sales Representatives Engage with Local Communities

Updated: Jul 15

At Wurth USA, we believe that being part of a community goes beyond selling automotive supplies; it's about fostering meaningful relationships and contributing positively to our local communities. While the Wurth Group has a global reach, each Wurth company’s sales representatives believe having a local touch is vital. Wurth USA sales representatives embody this philosophy by engaging in their communities in multiple ways.

Building Relationships with the Next Generation

One of the core values at Wurth USA is dedicated service to our customers. One of the ways our sales representatives incorporate this value is volunteering their time and resources to local trade schools and programs. One of those representatives is William “Bill” Bartholomay, a territory sales representative covering parts of Minnesota and the Dakotas. One aspect that Bill is known for in his community is establishing a program centered around tool kits to students at local technical institutes.

“I went to a tech school myself; I’ve been in their shoes,” Bill said. “I tell these kids ‘If you need help then call me.’ The thing I’m most proud of from this is I was able to get jobs for 15 students from the first tool kit program at local dealerships that I service.”

Other than goodwill and assisting the next generation of automotive repair specialists, Bill uses his tool kit program strategically as well. Bill believes that getting the quality products Wurth produces in the hands of tech students, that they will become familiar with the Wurth-brand quality for future use.

“You need to have good relationships with the tech schools in your area since they are in everyone’s backyard. It’s no different than a buying customer.”

Supporting Local Causes and Initiatives

Beyond volunteerism, our sales representatives are passionate about supporting local causes and initiatives. They actively seek out opportunities to sponsor community events, and fundraisers. Bill embodies this through the multiple philanthropic causes has and continues to participate in.

Last year, Bill was featured in a local Moorhead, Minnesota online publication for spearheading the donation and restoration of an automobile for a single mother of seven. Bill worked with a group of Minnesota State Community and Technical College students to help a fellow community college student who was working and getting her degree full-time without reliable transportation. That was the third car Bill has donated to a college.

This will be the fourth year of the Moorhead Cruise Night, a summer-time monthly gathering of car enthusiasts that Bill started from the ground up. The car show is held the first Thursday of every month at Minnesota State Community and Technical College and is attended by roughly 3,000 visitors each time.

Three years ago, the Cruise Nights were dedicated to raising education scholarships for the children of a fallen Fargo police officer killed in the line of duty. Two years ago, Bill was honored with the Program Supporter of the Year Award at the Minnesota State Transportation Center of Excellence for his many contributions within the Fargo-Moorhead area.

At Wurth USA, our commitment to community extends beyond the bottom line. Through the dedication and passion of our sales representatives like Bill Bartholomay, we actively contribute to the social fabric of our neighborhoods. By building relationships and supporting important causes, we strive to make a positive impact and create lasting connections that benefit our local communities.
